WELL SUMMARY
The Sunset-1 well was drilled by the semi-submersible MODU, Ocean Bounty in PSC ZOCA 95-19 in the Timor Sea, 450 km north west of Darwin, between Northern Australia and the island of Timor. Geologically the area lies within the northern portion of the Bonaparte Basin, one of the several major basins on the Australian North West Shelf. Sunset-1 was designed to test the fluvio-deltaic sandstones of the Upper and Middle Jurassic Plover Formation.
The well spudded on 22 Septermber 1997 and drilled at total depth of 2420 mDF, which was reached on 13 October 1997. After completion of final logging and testing the well was plugged and abandoned as a gas condensate discovery and the rig was released on 5 November 1997.
